Happy Holiday Hump Day! The rest of the week is all downhill from here & that's great since I haven't gotten to bed before 11:30pm once this week and Andy is sick.
Today's thought provoking prompt for Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class is all about Christmas Cards & Epistolary - The Written Word.
.
One thought came to mind while reading through the prompt, should I try and finish handmade cards this year? Or should I just simply go ahead and create a photo card?? I always enjoy recieving photo cards, but then again I love a written note, esp. if someone takes the time to include a little family update. Any thoughts or suggestions here?
.
Here are some handmade cards from last year - lots of time and effort go into making these:
1. When do you send them?
Anywhere between the day after thanksgiving to the day after Christmas.
2. How many?
2. How many?
Family/Friends - about 3 dozen. Extended list with internet friends - about 100.
3. Just sign and send or include hand written note?
Typically, I sign the card by hand and include a nicely typed update letter with photos.
4. You recieved unexpected card - do you return the favor?
Honestly, depends who it is and if that relation would be healthy or toxic to me.
5. How do you keep track of list/addresses?
Microsoft Word & Excel are my friends.
6. Cost of postage this year?
42 cents.
7. How do you display them?
We are in a new house this year, so I am not sure yet!

And now to reveal the "Joural Your Christmas" journal I am working on.
.
Here is the cover:
Here is the cover:
It is quite simple and made with MM Glitter Alpas, American Crafts Flair & Etsy Shop Album.
And the inside of the cover is using the yummy Little Yellow Bicycle Paper and Bleeding Cowboys font on a small strip of Basic Grey paper mounted with foam adhesive.
The first prompt/manifesto pages are also made with yummy Little Yellow Bicycle Paper and the Andy & Bleeding Cowboy fonts.

holy cuteness!
Cards are so fun to make, but are a real labor of love. I spent hours and hours on mine..It's all worth it, right?
Wow, you really have put in a lot of work here and everything looks really beautiful!
love your album so far - and the story you began with is a wonderful reminder to consider each day of this season as a blessing! tfs!
I love what you have done so far. That frosty cover is beautiful. Read the story about the trip to the tree farm...how lucky for the family you were there to help out until the professionals arrived. That's showing some real Christmas spirit, if you ask me. Well done.
Wow! I love your album and those cards are amazing! You are very talented!
Gorgeous cards! I'm debating between handmade and photo cards too...of course it would help if I had a good pic of the family to start with! Love your Christmas journal!
Loving it!
Your album is really beautiful Lauren xxx
Gorgeous! Love it. tfs.
Oh, the cards and the journal look wonderful, thanks for showing! :)
I LOVE that Christmas journal. It's so, so beautiful. :)
(And as for the Christmas cards: I know its sacreligious amonst us scrappy ladies... but I just don't send them. It's never been something that I enjoy, so I skip it. I'd rather see people, or call them, or go out to lunch, so...*shrug*)
Maybe just make cards for the top 20 on your Christmas list (you set the number of cards) and do something easier (photo cards or store cards) for the rest. Don't stress... just enjoy the season! Enjoy the snow for me, and play lots of 13!! ;)
Gorgeous stuff!
And that yellow bicycle paper... My eyes just popped!
