Time Out from Scrappin

I just couldn't bring myself to go sit in the basement and scrapbook this weekend. It was TOO nice outside and my hubby actually had some time available on the weekend (he is always working).
So we headed northwest into the mountains. MMMMmmmm.

Hiking in Medicine Bow in Wyoming to Glacier Lakes at about 10,800 feet above sea level. June 27, 2009

The dogs smelling out the moose just before we spotted him.

I've always wanted to see a moose and Saturday afternoon on our way up to the Glacier Lakes trailhead in Wyoming we saw a moose!

How was your weekend??

BASB - Mono Chrom Challenge

BASB Mono Chrom Challenge - I like Orange!

For the mono chrom challenge on the BASB website. I may be stretching the monochromatic color scheme here, but these are really basically all shades of orange. And you will have to excuse the bad photograph, the light was NOT cooperating. It was a lift of this layout by Ali Edwards:

But I'm not really sure I liked the way mine came out.

Then again maybe it's just because it's a DIRECT copy of her design. I do my share of scrap lifting but I always end up making it my own. The original layout ends up being more of a starting point, KWIM? So maybe it's TOO much of a copy for me to likey???

What do you think?

I went there looking for me - instead I found something bigger. And I think I finally understand why he did - peace.

CSA Week 1 - Breakfast & A Book

Eating our way through our first CSA Box...
There is nothing like a nice yummy breakfast with a good book to start your morning off right. Esp. to counteract slipping and almost falling in the shower...

The eggs, lettuce and the greens in the eggs (fresh dill and parsley in the eggs) on an english muffin. YUm. A glass of h2o and a good book: Three Cups of Tea.

What's on your plate?

Hair's the deal...

Big Fat Hairy Deal. Lovely Hair. Hair's the deal. Hairy Details.

The last two weeks have been verrrrrrry interesting concerning the style, cut and color of my hair. We started with a massive amount of moppy brown hair and got a fantastic haircut. Loved it. And I was feeling fiesty, so a week later, I tried something I have always wanted: blue hair. Fail. It was an awesome shade of brightish BLUE for ONE day. Count them, ONE! Booo. I waited 24 hours to wash my hair (always do after a color) and you should have seen the blue ALL over the shower, tub, curtain, wall, ceiling, window, etc. in the bathroom. And the towel??? And how about my pillow? Ugh... let's not even go there. So I had a fix done this past weekend since my hair was no longer blue and had turned green. Covered up the color and added a few honey kisses to the dark. SOOOOOOO much better!!!!

So, what's a scrappy gal to do with a TON of pictures of her hair from the last few weeks and quite the little tale to tell? Why, make a mini of course!

didn't get much more done then the cover last night. I will share the rest as I get er done! :)

Life is Like a Box of Chocolates...

Life is Like a Box of Choclates... Ya Never Know What You're Gonna Get!
Howdy y'all! After four days of not being able to park in the street in front of work (and instead having to park in Zimbawe), they are FINALLY doing the chip seal! That means we can park on the street again tomorrow! Yippeee! No more 10 mile hikes to work, uphill, both ways in the rain!

Okay, enough real life for now. How about some scrappy life? After visiting with my MIL this weekend and hoping that we were able to lift her spirits a bit (her brother passed away), I needed some serious scrap therapy. Look what I turned out Monday night, which is amazing because I never get more then one layout done on a work night.
And two cards with the scraps to boot!
Did you ever have to walk uphill both ways to school in the snow like my dad did???

Hair Crazy

Hair Crazy

Did something crazy to my hair! Dyed it DARK... a new one for me! Also had them put in some blue streaks for fun, but the dye is coming out like CRAZY! No more supposedly fun color streaks for me! Hmp!
That... and everyone seems to think I am rebelling against turning 30 this summer. No, I have always been obsessed with hair color and the color blue. I just finally decided to try them together. The result? Fail. Which sucks because I thought it kinda looked cool...
Having blue hair is not all it's cracked up to be. Can you relate??

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Really, I have NO idea what to say. I haven't blogged the last few days because I have been crazy busy at work and by the time I get home I don't want anything to do with a computer - the curse of a 40 hour a week desk job in which you are chained to your PC. Sigh.

Okay, 'nough whining. I'll show you some scrappies I worked on recently and then tell ya about a couple more movies I've watched (told ya I've been fried). Here is a fun little layout I did about my inlaws and a card I made from the scraps. And yes, I'm aware of the spelling error, but it's stamped in ink and everything is already glued down. Whoops!

We watched yet ANOTHER side of the Nazis & WWII story in Defiance.
It is an EXCELLENT movie and it tells one side of the Jews side of the story... and not one I recall learning about in school. It takes place in the woods in 1941, where a growing number of Jews are escaping the mass slaughter and finding refuge in the forest. They go from simply trying to survive to growing in numbers and fighting for their freedom. A FANTASTIC movie and I highly recommend it. Defiance along with Valkerkie and Band of Brothers has been an eye-opening history lesson for me - and much more effective then whatever I can no longer remember learning in school...

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: A Quick Weekend Review

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: A Quick Weekend Review

I had a nice, relaxing weekend for a change! Yipeee!

My SIL Trish had a crop at her house with about 6 girls. She usually does this about once a month and it is a LOT of fun, giggling, chic flicks and a bit of scrapbooking usually occurs too!

I got a chance to try a product out from UHU: their permanent tape runner. I used it to make this layout and these cards.
So far, so good - I would recommend the UHU product.
It's a nice size, fits in your hand nice, applies nice and seems to have a good hold (although you will have to check back with me in 5 years for a true opinion on the last one! ;-)). You can learn more about their products here.

Okay... next review. I tried the spray on hair remover depilatory cream from Sally Hansen.
Honestly, I am going to have to give this one two thumbs down. Bottom line is pretty simple: there was still too much hair on my legs after leaving it on for the maxi um time allowed: 10 minutes. One plus: the spray went on well, but what does that matter when 1/2 the hair didn't come off my legs?? Another negative: makes your shower EXTREMELY slippery (even with little grippes on the bottom of shower). I would NOT recommend this product. It's expensive and does not remove hair like the depilatory cream you spread on with your hands. Hmppph!

All right, one final review for you. We watched Burn After Reading again this weekend (we saw it when it came out in the theatre last year and just recently bought it).
Burn After Reading is a Cohen Brothers movie. If that means anything to you, it will be either a warning or an enticement. Hopefully, an enticement. It is a great movie with a fantastic cast about nothing. Yup, nothing. It's a dark spy comedy that has the most absurd story line of people spying on one another and gettin' up in each other's business... except they really have no idea WHAT that business is. Hmmm... something tells me that I'm not doing this review justice. Bottom line: it's a great movie! If you love the Cohen Brothers, you will love it. If you love dark comedy, you will love it. If you don't, you will probably hating. Two warning about the movie: there are a TON of sexual innuendos and the F-bomb is dropped constantly. I'd be curious to know if you've seen it and what you think about it??
